Following politics on the national stage? Then you should know that the House votes today on a bill that would effectively eliminate abortion coverage for millions of women. The so-called "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act" would make it nearly impossible for women to access insurance coverage that includes abortion.
This bill would not only raise taxes for many women and small businesses, eliminate their insurance options, and take away coverage they already have, it could also require "rape audits" in which women have to prove to the IRS that they were raped, and make women facing dangerous and life-threatening health complications pay out-of-pocket for a procedure than can cost thousands of dollars.
The White House weighed in yesterday, saying the President would veto the bill were it to make it to his desk. Still, you should make your voice heard on this issue — send a note to your representative urging them to vote no on HR 7.
